Company Background
Arnolds Veterinary Products is a trading division of the Dechra Group . Based in Shrewsbury, United Kingdom, Arnolds operates in the worldwide veterinary supply market and offers a comprehensive range of quality veterinary instrumentation and critical care products.
Arnolds began trading in 1819 in London as manufacturers of artificial limbs and surgical instruments. In the early 1900’s the purchase of John Bell and Croydon, a retail pharmacy, gave Arnolds a showroom in the West End of London.
Being the age of horses, the horse drawn carriage of the elite; the handsome cabs and the horse drawn carts of the traders crowded the streets and Arnolds seized the opportunity to expand their business by “moving into the design and production of instruments for equine surgery”. This was so successful that within a few years equine instruments were the core of the business and the products were sought after throughout the world.
This success paved the way for the introductions of a range of pharamaceuticals.. These were followed by other innovative products, both for the equine and small animal markets.
In October 2005, the pharmaceutical division was renamed Dechra Veterinary Products to build a stronger presence for the Dechra brand in the veterinary market.
This was to coincide with the launch of Dechra in the United States and to differentiate the pharmaceutical business in order for Arnolds to further develop the critical care market following the acquisition of the Vetivex range of infusion fluids.
